Adjustable Beds: Not Just for Old People!

Even if the market for the best Sleep System is growing, most people still think that the Adjustable Bed is still just that: a bed that can be adjusted. A bed that makes it easier for older people to get in and out of bed! They can be quite useful in these instances, but they can also be highly crucial for everyone living in today's world.

If you talk to an honest, competent mattress seller, they won't tell you to read or watch TV in bed. It's not something we should promote. But for some people, this is just how they live their lives now. If you want to, you can sit in bed and watch TV as you work to meet the major deadline. But putting two pillows under your back every three minutes probably isn't beneficial for your back or any other portion of your body. If this sounds like you, you might want to choose a mattress with an adjustable base next time you buy one.

There are a lot of "side effects" of not getting enough sleep and having bad sleep habits. These could be signs that you should look into the benefits of an adjustable bed. Some of the health problems are back pain, neck and shoulder discomfort, arthritis, problems with circulation, nighttime stomach reflux, snoring, and trouble breathing. An adjustable bed makes it much easier for people to get in and out of bed, and it also has a lot of health benefits for everyone.

People don't sleep properly at night the most because they toss and turn on their mattress. Pressure points are the main reason people toss and turn at night. Traditional coil and spring mattresses create pressure on certain parts of your body, which makes it hard for blood to flow to those places. When your body gets uncomfortable, you change positions. If your spine isn't aligned properly, you can also toss and turn. All standard mattresses are flat, but our bodies are not. Because of this, the traditional mattress does not give enough support to the lumbar region, which can cause your hips and lower back to sink below the rest of your body. This puts pressure and pain on that location, which makes your body move to a new posture.

There are many amazing things about adjustable sleep systems. It's clear that the movable base is exactly that: an adjustable base. You need the right mattress to go with your adjustable foundation in order to get the most out of it. When you sleep, they might work together to make sure there is no pressure. There have been a lot of studies done on the space program, but the most famous one is the production of memory foam. But we discovered more than just how astronauts slept in space. Well, when our astronauts are in space, they are always floating in a place with no pressure. We've learned some interesting things by looking at how astronauts sleep in space. First of all, their heads stay a little higher, which makes it simpler for them to breathe. Second, and possibly more importantly, we can see that their knees naturally bend and rise somewhat above their hearts. This position removes pressure off the spine and lets more blood flow to the heart.

This very nice and healthful position can only be imitated by an adjustable bed. Keeping your body in our natural sleep posture lowers the pressure on your bones by more than 85%, which means you will receive the best, deepest sleep possible.

What to Look For

The base and the mattress are the two pieces of an adjustable sleep system.

The Base: There are two kinds of adjustable beds: the commercial ones used in hospitals and the ones that regular people buy. The commercial item is quite strong and usually features rails on the sides to help someone pull themselves up. These models are highly pricey and don't look well in the home, unless you need them for health reasons.

- Focus on how the frame is built; you want it to be strong and seem like a nice piece of furniture. A standard box spring look is best since it lets you dress it up whichever you want.
- Check the "head and foot" for good motors. Check to see if they are UL Listed and CSA certified. A Freefall Design is best since it lets the head and foot pieces drop by gravity exclusively. This will help the motor last longer. Also, make sure it has insulated rubber wheels so it runs smoothly and quietly.
- A Polarized "Modular" electrical system is the best choice since it keeps cables from becoming tangled and makes service easy with the plug-in capability.
- Check that the inclination is at least 50 degrees at "both head and foot." 60 degrees is best.
- Make sure the legs have threaded glides so you may change the height of the bed to what you want.
- Now, depending on what you want, make sure there is a massager available. I don't know about you, but I appreciate the massager. It gives you that additional pampering you need at the end of certain days. With certain brands, you have to pay for it or you can't receive it. It's always wonderful to have options.
- It's good to have the option of wired or wifi for the remote as well.

The Mattress: Your mattress is the most critical part of any bed, whether it is adjustable or not. This is true even if your foundation was the corner of 4th and Main. Even in this case, the right mattress should give you the right support, relieve pressure, and keep your spine in line.

- A lot of businesses only sell coil and spring mattresses with their adjustable bases. This isn't the best thing that could happen. The coil and spring mattresses aren't particularly flexible and don't function well with an adjustable foundation. They also need to be replaced every five years.
- If you use your adjustable base, there are other very high-end options that are "at a fraction of the price" that you could profit from. All of them are made to help you sleep better by relieving pressure, keeping your spine in the right position, and making the surface of your bed more breathable. Air mattress beds operate effectively with an adjustable base when they have horizontal chambers. The chambers fit the shape of the bed well. Even if this works, it's not the best option.
- Memory foam and latex mattresses are built from very specific foams that are more durable and flexible than coils and springs. This means that they will work with the adjustable base to provide you the best customizable sleep experience possible. Not to mention that these foam mattresses can last for twenty years, which is presumably how long your mattress will survive.
- The last piece of advice is to avoid clear from deals that say, "Mattress Included." This almost never means that the mattress they give you is good. Just because it says "FOAM" doesn't guarantee it's Memory or Latex foam. Check it out to be sure.

So, depending on how you live or if your health requires it (I hope this isn't the case), look into all the health and convenience benefits of a good adjustable bed. But don't forget about the "quality" mattress!
